OBJECTIVE: Renovate the kitchen to create a functional and efficient layout
BEFORE
GOALS:
Add a modern twist to fit the homeowners classic yet eclectic style
Maintain the historic charm of the home
Redesign cabinetry to better utilize the space
Convert a large hidden area behind the fridge into a pantry
CHALLENGES:
The previous layout had a few issues to resolve. Here is a quick rundown on details and how we solved the problem areas..
The microwave was dangerously high and not accessible for anyone. So we moved it to the island.
The refrigerator was trapped inside an deep and narrow alcove that didn't allow adequate ventilation, causing the RF to overheat and not work properly. We moved the new counter depth RF next to the wall ovens and turned the RF alcove into a new walk-in pantry equipped with custom shelving for maximum efficiency and storage. The vintage mirrored doors are the perfect touch!
The island was a too wide for the space and an odd pie shape that created small walkways, so we made a longer rectangle island with large drawers and seating for 3. We also replaced the down draft vent so it does it's job.
The cabinets were small and inefficient, so we added deep drawers for cookware and dishes, tray storage, pull out trash and open shelves so everything is neat and organized.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
We used custom flush inset cabinetry to maintain the historic charm of the home
We used a gorgeous green finish to add a pop of color and warmth to the white space. The tall white cabinets, white quartz, walls and trim keep the overall feel bright and airy
Custom walnut floating shelves add a natural element to space and provide easily accessible place for dishes and décor
Added a walk in pantry with custom shelving and beautiful vintage mirrored doors
